Rudolf Gildemeister: Exilerating

To me, the thought of doing a triathlon had something mythical to it. I had only recently learned to swim freestyle (when my son started swimming), and never taken up cycling as a sport. To get me there Iasked Shem to coach me and got started on my journey, following Shem’s training plansand giving him weekly feedback, which kept me disciplined. I really got a kick from the variety in training and the gradual improvements an increase inconfidence in the water and on the bike I experienced. Whatever “The Method” is, it works:)
Well, first I got a kick and then I got hooked…completing the OD was exhilarating, but I had then already set my sight on a bigger goal, the Half Ironman. Shem got me there too and somehow kept me hungry for more. The fact that I had signed up for Ironman Switzerland when previously would not have even even remotely consider aspiring to the same, affirmed that I had come a longway from my first track-attack session. It was quite a feeling to complete the Ironman, and I soon after sent an SMS to Singapore: “I did it! 11h30m ThanksShem”
